چکیده

Introduction: The selection of intraocular lens is still debatable in paediatric eye. Due to low cost and fewer intra-operative complication hydrophilic acrylic are implanted volume income countries. There lack comparative study this type with hydrophobic population.
Aims: To compare the outcomes cataract surgery.
Methods: Out 48 eyes included study, Group A (n =24) were lens, B lens. children evaluated pre, intra postoperatively for different parameter.
Results: mean age was 6.6±2.7 years at time surgery. most common zonular (58% 50% B). Postoperatively, corneal edema seen 7(29%) group 2(8%) B. follow-up 16.9±2.9 months. At one year, position capsular bag 20 (88.33%) 24 (100 %) B, respectively. Clear visual axis present 22 Posterior capsule opacification occurred 12(50%) 6(25%) Two (8.3%) underwent surgical membranectomy due opacification. LogMAR acuity 0.56 0.52 respectively year.
Conclusion: Hydrophilic good alternative Nepal treatment cataract.

Comparison of hydrophobic and hydrophilic intraocular lens in preventing posterior capsule opacification after cataract surgery

BACKGROUND Posterior capsular opacification (PCO) is a common long-term complication of cataract surgery. Intraocular lens design and material have been implicated in influencing the development of PCO. This study evaluated the association of hydrophobic and hydrophilic intraocular lenses on preventing PCO. METHODS Medline, Cochrane, EMBASE, and Google Scholar databases were searched until Au...

Long-term efficiency of cataract surgery with hydrophilic acrylic Ioflex intraocular lens

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the efficiency of long-term cataract surgery using low-cost intraocular lens implantation in community campaigns. METHODS Fifty-eight randomly selected patients were evaluated four years after phacoemulsification and Ioflex intraocular lens implantation. Causes of low visual acuity related to the intraocular lens were evaluated, and treatment costs were calculated. RES...
